Off in search of snow on Easter Sunday

We awoke to find a light covering of snow at Mum and Dads on Easter Sunday but Chris and I decided to have a drive up into the Peak Disdtrict in search of some proper snow! We went over to Stanage Edge and had a walk there, it was freezing and blowing a gale. The snow was pretty thick and kids were even building snowmen and sledging while their patient parents huddled round for warmth while they waited for them to slide down the slope. The views were amazing and after taking a few photos and getting the cobwebs well and truly blown away we headed down into the valleys.

Our first stop was the Derwent Dam where they practiced for the famous Dambusters raids. I love it up there as the scenery is spectacular. We were hoping to see water cascading over the dam due to the snow melt but we may have been a day early as the snow hadn't really begun to melt. I was disappointed as I've never seen it, other than in other people's photos, maybe another time!

We then went for a walk over the Ladybower Dam and managed to see the water flowing down into the sink holes near the Dam, I'd never seen that before and it was quite a sight. After a few photos and a bit of a walk we headed home for a hot chocolate and a seat by a radiator :)
